Need a video editor better than iMovie.

Hi,

I have been doing some home video editing on my iMac and would like something that offers some more features than iMovie.

As far as I can tell iMovie is pretty basic and doesn't even have any effects - I would like to add a vignette fade around the edges for instance (Top Gear style).

Another effect I would like to apply, but do not know if one even exists, is something to blur out part of the video. Basically I have some footage of my young boy from the summer running around the garden being sprayed by the hose in the nude. I would like to preserve some of his privacy and blur out his privates. Can any of the video editors do this?

I have previously used Pinnacle Studio 9 in the past and found that quite
good. Is the latest version of Pinnacle better than Final Cut? Is there another package I should consider?

I would ideally like to spend no more than £50 with £100 being my absolute maximum.

Give iMovie '06 a try - it's more powerful than '08, and free.

Aside from that... shell out for Final Cut Express.

If you want more power, then Final Cut Express is what you need.

Hi mate - I've got the latest version of PS and tbh, I fnd it just as rubbish as 9. Still buggy etc....I know I'm on a PC so don't know how your mac would handle it but I'm not very impressed with it - I'd definitely find an alternative.

Final Cut Express can be found for less than £100 on auction sites and is only £129 on apple.
