Need activation help for iphone 5

Hi guys,

Nephew is trying to sell iphone 5 that he bought from my boss.

It has been removed from her 'findmyiphone' thing on icloud.

I have her icloud login details, her apple id passwords etc

We have managed to reset the iphone but upon reboot and initial setup it is not letting us setup a new account.

Says it is locked to my bosses apple id, which should be no problem as we enter the correct email address and password but it says '*****@hotmail.co.uk cannot be used to unlock this iphone'

I'm at my wits end as I have the correct password and email because I am using them to login to the apple ID websit so I know they're correct.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

The iPhone is still associated with your bosses Apple ID via the activation lock feature of iOS.

This is beyond ridiculous.

Thanks for your help but the article doesn't help.

It is associated with previous owners Apple ID and we have the correct details but it isn't accepting them.

It appears she set up the Iphone with an older email address in 2013. She is not sure of the password so we have tried a password reset but there is no Apple ID assocaited with the email that she set it up with even though there are clearly emails from Apple ID in that email account.

What can be done?

To answer that question, it's a pretty good way of making the phone worthless if it's nicked or lost.

Not being sarky or anything, I can feel your pain but it is useful if used correctly.

Yeah I totally understand why this security stuff is in place.

So what would be the next step? I take it to an apple store with my bosses proof of purchase? Does she need to be there?
