Hi guys,

Was putting my order together for my new build but unfortunately the PSU I wanted (Corsair 620W) is out of Stock with No eta.

I want a Modular unit with a rating of 600W minimum and I will be Running the following to begin with:

Processor: C2D E6600
Motherboard: EVGA 680i
Graphics: EVGA 8800GTS Slient 640MB
Memory: 2Gig Corsair Dominator PC6400 4-4-4-12
HDD: Western Digital Cavilar SE 250GB 16MB
Case: Akasa Eclipse 62
Opticals: 2x Samsung Serial ATA
Fans: 2x Scythe S Flex 1200RPM 120mm fans

Was looking at the Seasonic M12 600W Silent Modular PSU. Does anyone have this PSU case combo? Is it good? should I hit buy?

Also the Seasonic is a ATX 2.0 standard whereas the Corsair was a 2.2. Does this make a difference?

Can I ask why you want 600W minimum? 500W is more than enough and around 550W if you are going to be overclocking. You could save some serious buck and get a lower watt PSU. I would suggest and recommend the Antec Truepower Trio 550W, I have one powering my system in the sig. Superb and very quiet.

I have the Thermaltake Toughpower 750w and it's quite good. It's inexpensive, very stable and high power.

I know thermaltake doesn't have the best reputation for PSUs but trust me the toughpower line is extremely good..also is around 85% efficient

Here's a review on the one I have...I believe they have a 850w one now as well.

It's also pretty quiet.

I want the Extra Headroom because I do intend to overclock the system and I might at a later date get a second 8800GTS as well as a pair of HDD's for a Raid.

At a later date nVidia/ATI will have something on the market that will on its own be able to outperform G80 in SLi. Its pretty much a waste of time and money SLi - tedious to setup and for the few extra FPS in games which aren't even noticable to the human eye I wouldn't even be considering it.

Agreed, SLi is a waste of time and money. Rest of the spec looks good, and the Corsair should be back in stock soon according to other posts, if you are willing to wait :)

How soon is soon? I'll give it a few days then and order it at a later date. was going to use the CC anyhow so this will give me time to save some pennies to pay the CC company back

In the meantime does anyone have any recommendations for a PSU that will Run the system I have listed. I would like it to be reasonably quiet but stability/reliability are the most important points.

Are there any 680i users with a similar setup running a PSU other than the Corsair? If so what would you recommend?

i use an enermax 600watt noisetaker, runs all my current kit fine, imho avoid sli its a nightmare to set up and not all games suport it used to have 2 6800gt cards in sli which was a bloody curse my single 7900gt was far better and cheaper. until i got the bfg 8800gts 640

I've got a pretty similar spec to you, 4gb of ram being the only major difference. I went a bit overkill and got the enermax galaxy 850w so probably not very helpful to you unless you are willing to pay £170 for a PSU!

Cheers for that I looked at the spec and I feel this is good for a second choice so I am going to go ahead with this PSU.
