Hey. I bought a PSN code from www.mmoga.com. I payed with paypal but AFTER the website charged paypal, it was asking for a picture of my ID to verify my account and would not give me the code other wise.

So I thought this is BS and charged back on my paypal account. Now mmoga and sent me a email asking for £10 admin fees otherwise they will send to a collecting agency. I guessing this is BS and can I just ignore them?

Thanks

The way that debt affects your credit is if you get a County Court Judgement against you. I'd be surprised if they tried to take you to court over £10.

Re: bailiffs, check this: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/d...ome/can-a-bailiff-force-entry-into-your-home/

You'll note that they can only enter with a court order / CCJ, which again they won't have. Even if they did somehow acquire a CCJ, you could just agree to pay the £10 and that would be the end of it.

Ask them to point out where in their T&Cs it states you'll have to pay this fee.

Or just ignore, they are unlikely to send debt collectors after you for £10... I doubt a DCA would even take on a £10 debt :p

It won't affect your credit rating unless they get a CCJ against you, which would involve taking you to court for it. Again, unlikely, since the costs to do so would far outweigh the £10.

So really:

Absolute worst case scenario: They get a CCJ and you have to pay the £10
Realistic worst case scenario: They close your account and block you from buying on there again.

So I can just ignore it and it wont escalate then, but what if they decide they want more than £10, it seems to be a "grey" website.

Why didn't you just send a picture like any normal person would, it's a one time thing and doesn't have to have any other details apart from your name.

They do it because people try charge backs against them all the time after they receive the key.

I had them ask for proof of residence in EU before. Sent a scan of a bill. job done... If they wanted to find my address they could search for it on any Swedish citizen municipality database..

You decide what you want to do next time... I personally dont give a toss.

They wanted a picture of my passport or driving licence, Im not gonna give that to some grey website. Plus people have said they ask for proof on multiple occasions.

I just provided a photo of my ID with everything blanked out apart from my name and I've never been bothered since, it wouldn't surprise me if they've clamped down harder though as the amount of people who try and get things for free is ridiculous.

I've had to provide photo ID before, didn't think anything of it.. few years later I haven't had my identity stolen so result I guess. I'd probably be a bit more dubious nowadays tho.
