Need advice...building a new PC for the first time in 8 years

I have been pc less other than my crappy laptop for the last 8 years. I want to build a new PC for around a grand. This will be a full build as I literally have nothing other than my old logitech steering wheel. I want to get back into sim racing again. I don't need windows as I have my licence for Windows 7.

Thanks guys that's brilliant. If you were to stretch the budget slightly would you recommend going to the i7 or not? Also I really have been out of the loop for so long now with regards to pc technology but is there some new Chipset out now... Not the Haswell but something else. Sorry to sound like a massive noob lol.... I assume this would cost a lot more!

Yes the new cpu line up from intel is Skylake and new chipset motherboard , the diffrence is aprox 5% faster than the previous gen and it also supporst DDR 4 .

Looks good, if you change your mind and want i7 I would get the 5820k for 6 cores rather than the Skylake 4

x99 is better choice over z170 but the extra cost and on this budget it wouldn't be worth it.

Its £60 for a basic one but can sky rocket up depending on the complexity of the PC
