Comp is less than a year old.
Got an error message saying USB device is overvoltage please remove.

I removed all USB devices and still got this error when eventually the computer stopped completely no fans nothing.

Its a crosshair mobo and the the mobo LED flashes as do the the others which are reset cmos clear and power on.

Reset the cmos and that stopped flashing the other three however still flash and that is the only activity I get.

Now correct me if I am wrong but does that look like a borked graphics card its a BFG 8800 GTX factory overclocked nothing else on the system is overclocked.

Tagon 520 psu dont know any way out of it other than to buy new graphics card.

So any advise would be most wellcome at this point.

Unplug everything & fire it up. No graphics, no HDD, no RAM, no DVD/CD, no floppy, no mouse or keyboard. If no bleeps it has to be Mobo or PSU. If it bleeps build it back up one component at a time until it falls over again

Well I have tried that and no beebs apart from finding out that I can turn off the three flashing LEDs and turn on eight blu ones by a mobo switch nothing.

So it looks like mobo or psu would i be right in assuming it is most likely to be the psu ?

On checking it is a modular corsair 520 hx520w model if so what model should i try or is there anything velse i can try first ?

It could be either. Best try swapping the PSU with another borrowed from elsewhere as it is easier than swapping out a motherboard. The motherboard is totally disconnected apart from the power switch, no USB headers etc ?

I cant try the psu it is incompatable with my old comp, so it could be that or the mobo.

Fails to post and no mobo green light but power is getting through so going to cross my fingers and buy PSU.

Ok I took out the USB heders and instead of the led flashing they went solid so i clicked the power on mobo switch and it beeped.

One long and two short the case fans started too still trying to figure where i am with it now.

My only excuse is that i have sore knees from all the kneelling i have done in a confined space.

I have rebuilt system and got it to post only problem is when I reconnect the USB headers then it falls over again.

Does this mean it is broken I really do need the USB.

And thanks indeed for the advice given I have not came accross a problem quite like this one before.

And yes the Corsair still seems to be rock solid despite all the errors.

Maybe one of the leads or sockets is damaged & shorting out. If you can't eliminate which one & source a replacement you could always buy a USB card & ignore the on board ports.

I might need one of them for the time being I dug out the one that came with the mobo and everything seems to be back to normal.

Not too sure where the problem is except that the USB leads from the akase Eclipse to the mobo just dont work anymore.

Just hoping thats an end to it for time being.
