Greetings,

I am trying to build a PC for my father that will handle Blu-Ray playback via HDMI to a panasonic plasma screen FullHD 1920x1080 and run his web browsing at 12080x1024 but may upgrade that also to a larger screen at 1920x1200 also. I want the sound and graphics to be output from an internal Blu-Ray player via HDMI.

PC I am looking at currently would be (roughly but nothing bought yet)

Asus P5E motherboard with a E8400 or Q6600.
4GB ram running windows vista 64bit and probably powerdvd for bluray playback.
500gb hard disk

Thing i cant work out is which graphics card to buy that will handle the 2 simultanios displays at 1900x1200

Will spend up to 120 quid but really hoping that this isnt necessary as he wont be 3D gaming at all but I want the blu-ray playback to be very smooth.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

BS

Not quite sure what you mean.
If you want to use a TV with speakers and a TFT monitor then you can use HDMI for the tv and DVI for the TFT, so you will need a card that has HDMI and DVI(never seen one myself) or two video cards. but it seems odd that anyone would want to broswe the web @1920x1200 while whatching a HD movie, why not just use the TV? or you could split your bubget and build two systems.

this has HDMI and DSUB so you could run both screens with this but i would email Sapphire first and make sure, you will also have to buy a tft that can display 1920x1200 via DSUB.

Sapphire Radeon X1600 Pro HDMI 256Mb

Hope iv helped.

Jigger, yes I would be needing a card with dual DVI one with convertor and sound merging that goes to HDMI, on further looking the :

HIS ATI Radeon HD 3650 ICEQ3 Turbo 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-092-HT

looks to be what I want but not sure how well they manage to run both screens at 1920x1200 simultaniously if its actually possible or if only one connection can be run that high at one time.

This card appears to be a little over the top considering I am not looking to play 3d games on it but I dont want it to struggle whilst playing the blu-ray.

Hope this offers some clarity

Matrox always had a good reputation for dual head cards... ill take a peek at them...

Thanks for any info if anyone has any advice or has this kind of setup.
