Hey Guys, did a new build with this setup about a year ago...

- Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming G1-Wifi BK Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX
- Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor
- Asus Radeon R9 280X DirectCUII TOP 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
- Corsair AX860i Digital ATX '80 Plus Platinum' Modular Power Supply
- Samsung 250GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic
- Corsair Hydro H105 240mm Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
- LG BH16NS40 16x SATA Internal BDRW - OEM
- Seagate 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD - OEM
- Corsair CMD16GX3M2A2400C10 Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2400 Mhz CL10

Ended up having huge problems with the Gpu so returned it and settled for a geforce gtx 750 overclocked edition from maplin, which worked fine but is a pretty standard graphics card. Looking to upgrade to something a bit more beefy but only have a £200 budget. Any recommendations? want to stay away from radeon as I had the problems last time!!

By reducing your options to Nvidia only you only have one option which is a 960. Staying away from a type such as Nvidia or AMD because of one problem card is a bit crazy but it's your choice. You could opt for a B grade 780ti of which there are 2 at 200 quid in the OCUK clearance section but personally I wouldn't go near them, if anything I'd stretch the budget for a 970. Personally I'd go for something like this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-363-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=3059

I'd snag a used 290x or, preferably, a 970. It's cooler, quieter and overclocks like a beast You might need to up the budget slightly but I think it'll be worth it. I definitely wouldn't buy anything new at this price point, it's completely pointless.
