Hey guys my pc spec used to be
Motherboard : asus m5a87
Processor : AMD phenom(tm) 2 x4 970 processor 3.5hz
RAM : 8gb
Graphics card : AMD RADEON HD 6600 series
Power supply : 650 watt
I am using an acer x223hq monitor through a vga cable.

Saturday i purchased 3 new upgrades
Graphics card : radeon r9 390 vtx
8gb more ram
Power supply : ts850 xfx

So setup is now
Motherboard : asus m5a87
Processor : AMD phenom(tm) 2 x4 970 processor 3.5hz
RAM : 16gb
Graphics card : AMD RADEON R9 390 vtx
Power supply : ts 850 xfx
am using an acer x223hq monitor through an adaptor to the vga cable.

The problem i am having is now once installing graphics card every now and again when i have an application running my disk and cpu spike to near 100% the screen flickers and goes black for a brief moment and i am wondering what the cause is.

I have updated all my drivers.

A friend of mine has stated it could be that the pc is either still trying to use the old graphics card and new graphics carc settings together causing an issue or trying to still use the onboard graphics card as well as the new one? Is this correct or is it another problem.

Cheers in advance!

Did you do a completed driver uninstall when you removed your old GPU?

Try and use DDU uninstaller, remove all GPU drivers and re download them, could possible be an old driver version for you 6600 is still in there and interfering with your 300 series drivers.
