Looking to update the BIOS as mentioned, having the F23f BIOS presently from 2018/08.
Have had some strange behaviour in regards to my internet connection so thought maybe something with BIOS. I have a second PC and that one has no problem with the internet connection, and the router, cable and all is working as it should. It's just my main PC that are troublesome.
The AX370 is for the moment replacing the ASUS I had in it when the above problems started, is at the retailer to be looked at, since their support thought it might be the internet port on the board that was faulty. Now, with similar, although not as badly, connection behaviour happening on this board as well I'm trying everything I can think off, Win 10 updated to latest as well.
Now, to the part where I need some advice in regards to the BIOS. On their support website (BIOS Update page) the newest version F50a says rather straight forward *Before update BIOS to F40 or later version, make sure you have prior updated to F31.* The problem, or maybe uncertainty for me, is that should I also do what the notes in F40 says:
- Before update BIOS to F40, you have to install EC FW Update Tool (B19.0517.1 or later version) to avoid 4DIMM DDR compatibility on 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ CPU.
So am I wrong in thinking I should also install the Update Tool as well, after F31 and before F50a ??
To make matter worse for myself, there is also a mention in the two BIOS that come out after my present version but before version F31, that the AMD Chipset Driver should also be updated. So should I also update the Chipset Driver to the latest version as well ?
Sorry for such n00b questions but I actually never updated the BIOS on a motherboard and rather ask before doing it, since I would prefer not to mess it all up !
