Do you really need a six core ddr4 machine for gaming something like an 4790k and a 780 would be nice. The psu is enough to add a second card and there is money back on gigabyte and intel combo promotion.

Not fair really.

For a bit of OCing the Ereboss is stunning.

The H105 is a HIGH end cooler.

Of course its better performance, but value for money... Ereboss.

More towards gaming really and I just want an upgrade still using a Quad CPU Q6600 lol

And really just want the best i can get now for the money so i dont have to upgrade for a while and to go with me nice new monitor

If gaming with a £1k budget then definitely go for Z97. X99 will eat up too much of that when you'd be better off spending it on a video card. Even the cheapest X99 will set you back around £600-700 for just the mobo/CPU/RAM which by the time you add in other part like case/PSU/storage won't leave enough budget to get a decent video card. If you look at some of the benchmarks below there's literally zero benefit in spending the extra on X99 compared to Z97.

The new Nvidia 9xx series cards are out so if it was me I'd either go for a Geforce 970 or 980 and pair it with a 4790k,Z79 and a 16Gb RAM.
