alright guys
i have a bit of a dilemma on a new build , i have a budget of 4k to build either a intel or amd Rig
i already have an apple mac pro fully specced out i9/32gb ram for Work , and i also have a ps4 for playing games.

the rig i want is mainly for playing a game called Football Manager and i want all leagues loaded on it so i will need a beefy processor , i have taking a post from another forum explaining Football Manager on Processors here

"FM will utilise all available cores when processing matches however other than that it still operates on a single core basis where clock frequency is more important therefore to get the full performance benefit you need to run all in full detail. If you already run all competitions in full detail & you have the money an i9 cpu will provide a performance advantage over all other options although how much remains to be seen & if in the past you've left FM at the default settings you will likely be disappointed in the lack of any tangible improvement in processing times."

Football Manager 2019 PC system requirements
  • OS: Windows 7 (SP1), 8/8.1, 10 (1803/April 2018 Update) – 64-bit or 32-bit.
  • Processor: Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core or AMD Athlon – 2.2 GHz +
  • Memory: 2GB RAM.
  • Graphics: Intel GMA X4500, Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT or AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 – 256MB VRAM.
  • DirectX: Version 9.0c.
TBF a newer gen i3 or ryzen 2400 would destroy this game buddy
What budget do you have in mind

This is probably overkill but will allow you to have all leagues loaded with large databases. Cpu speed is most important for this with single core grunt doing the majority of the heavy lifting vs many cores. Aside from that 8-16GB RAM seems to be the recommended amount for smooth running in the game.

Graphically it is not intensive and many users get by on integrated graphics with no issues.

So, money no object, look at the following.

i7 9700 for sheer single core speed.
16gb 3200mhz RAM
256GB / 512GB SSD

For the graphics you could rely on the integrated graphics and settle for low quality or add something like a GTX 1050 or higher to up the quality. It really depends on how crazy you want to go.

The game itself can be played on quite low spec hardware as shown by the system requirements above, but for all leagues and large databases you want to be looking at more processing power and ram for a smooth experience.

I've gathered what info i can about the game from the sigames forum and the above recommendation reflects that. However, I haven't played the game and there are probably others that know better. In any case I don't think you need to spend even close to 4k for a build dedicated to fm and what I have listed is at the extreme high end of what you could expect to spend.

I hth, perhaps try posting in the new build / upgrade section for a few more comprehensive parts lists.

For reference here is one of the threads I was reading.
