Need advice on an upgrade...

hi guys,

at the minute i have a machine running an AMD XP3000 CPU.. I am looking to upgrade to one of the AMD dual core chips such as the X2 4200 or such like..

Anyone recommend me a new CPU, motherboard, memory and PCI Express GFX card?

I need dual core for video editing stuff.

Any help would be great!

Get a core 2 duo, or wait for the Amd price drops in a couple of weeks.

You need to tell us your budget.

probably would have around 600 to spare.. i can use all the other parts from my old pc so all i need it new mobo, cpu, memory and gfx afaik!

When is the price drop due??

The price drops are in place as of today mate! Go check out the AMD section and hit CTRL+F5 to refresh fully.

The last of the stock is arriving next week Monday, it says Pre-order because they have less than 10 left!

Core 2 duo from Intel, their first cpu than can compete with the A64.

guys,

just wondering if the AMD x2 range will soon be discontinued? Im thinking that it is a reasonable option for me at the moment. Also do I go for AM2 or 939 socket?
