my friend is starting uni in about 1 week and needs a good build
it need to process large pixels in 3ds max and play games on it
my budget is £1000
need advice on full build please

Assuming he dosent need an OS and monitor get the below

I picked EVGA 660 ti for same reason i got it. comes with an extra years warranty over the KFA2 OC edition which is slightly better and £5 cheaper. but think the extra years warranty is worth £5 and 30 mhz dropped on clock. (and comes with borderlands 2! how could i forget that. apparently all cards 600 range should get the code for B2 but i've heard some don't come with it in case so you have to moan at nvidia. evga comes with code in case)

i think the CUDA cores on nvidia 660ti should help with the UNI 3D work (think someone else can clear that up)

I7 defiantly will be needed for your uni 3d processing i reckon, rest of the build is pretty standard.
