Ok i'll be honest this is my first build, getting ****ed of with the crap thats loaded on pcs when you buy them plus i need something powerful

as it will be use to run multiple multithreaded softwares &
programing softwares

dont think i need a top the range graphics card as its never going be used for gaming or anything mostly just coding but one that can run multiple monitors

ive been told to get around 16gb + memory

need everything apart from mouse, keyboard, and monitors

oh i kinda like this case
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-129-AN&tool=3

so everything and anything to fit inside also hard drive dont need to be huge as mostly all work is stored on external drives so 500gb or less would be fine

budget £1000 better if less, but not big deal if its over that

thanks

Budd

This is the same spec as the bundle (apart from the motherboard, but I would recommend the MSI over the Asus) but a lot cheaper, as sandybridge isn't hard to overclock, and even if you have no clue how to, these forums are very good and people will walk you through it if you post in the overclocking section. Also included an SSD for the OS and applications which will speed up the overall feel a lot.

True, but the bundle comes with a 12 month collect and return warranty and is less hassle if the op doesn't want to overclock himself, although the SSD is probably a good idea.

under a grand with a 120GB SSD.

Surely a 5850 (although great value) is a bit OTT for a guy who isnt even gaming but just coding and the psu could be cut down significantly too. Just my thoughts

LOL

But...slower RAM, slower read speed on the SSD (possibly unneeded size too? although obviously I can't make that call), a non-modular PSU and the optical drive doesn't even have labelflash capabilities!

In any case, I'd still probably choose yours :(

Write speeds are a bit low on the crucial M4 dont you think;) not so important for a gaming pc where the data is just being read all the time.

Hows the ram slower;) 1333mhz is the default speed of the memory controller of sandybridge cpu's.

Yeah but if your just using the SSD for OS/apps and HDDs for everything else it's worth it surely (unless your constantly uninstalling and installing apps lol!)

If 1333mhz is the default speed how come most people spec 1600mhz?

If a 5850 gpu isnt needed, then heres a happy little card.

But the apps he uses do lots of reading and writing back and forth, gaming just reads (mostly)

Because a 4GB 1600mhz kit is usually cheaper or the same price as a 1333mhz kit, so it makes sense.

As I see no mention of overclocking anywhere.

heres a even cheaper spec using the CPU's inbuilt GPU.

still using the 120GB SSD and the MATCHED set of RAM sticks:)

wow thanks for the replies guys i will have a good read through them tomorrow as getting late and had one to many beers lol

i know this sounds like a stupid question but does this included everything i need like screws , cables etc also what about keeping the unit cool as they can tend to run for 24-48 hours before i remember to turn them off

as stulid stated the apps and programs i use do a lot reading files and writing files
