I am new to the forum and know nothing about new tech. Sorry if this is a common question.
If its ok I have one main question and a follow up question,i will try to keep it brief for you.
My current TV is Pioneer Plasma 42",i have had this apx 10 yrs and still going fine BUT the "new" tv`s seem to have a much better picture now,i thinks its due to the resolutionof mine 1080 / 768?

I would like to get a TV of upto 55" no smaller than 50". If I can get a 55" on my budget fine, if there is a much better TV at 50" ,fine also. I have a budget of £800-1500.

I have read that oled is best but some LED/LCD are good if the tv lighting system is good, this is what I do not understand and know types of,so recommedations would be great.

For me I have a basic needs. Only a Blue ray player, skybox and humax recorder connected. I understand most tvs have wifi and smart now BUT I will never use this BUT I want I good tv so if it has high connectivity so be it.

My secondery question might sound weird BUT my tv sits on a 3 tier glass cabinet which is 41" wide ,the pioneer is the same width. If I get a 55" tv this will overhang 4" at each side. I have no young kids or issues of it getting knocked BUT looks wise is this a NO NO style wise????
The unit fits perfect so would like to keep it. Also the new TV`s seem to have really far spaced stand feet know!!! some would not even fit on my unit.

Any help would be reall y great, I have till now been asking guys at currys etc for advice and all seem very uninformed. 3 visits and 4 guys all with totally different tvs put forward.
