Basically I have made a mess of things. I noticed on our car that the previous owner had scraped the wing of the car and had made a repair. It was not a very smooth finish though and in my wisdom I tried to make it better! In the process of making it better I discovered that it was a very deep scratch that had been filled with touch up paint and I ended up having to sand it right down to get it smooth. How can I proceed from here. I can't really afford to take it in to be resprayed and would be happy with a decent diy repair.

I know. I'm an idiot. I am usually quite competent at DIY but this time things went south. Hopefully there is a way to make it presentable.

There is no way to effect a "decent" diy repair on that.

Best you could do would be to use SRP or similar mild polish to reduce the scratching and marring you've made from sanding, and then thinly apply a touch up paint over the actual areas missing paint
