Right guys,

Managed to pick up a macbook from the bay for about £400 with the following basic spec

2.0 ghz C2D
1gb 667 ram
80gb hd
intel gma 950 integrated gfx

This is maybe going to replace my desktop pc that I have and will be used for web development, programming, photoshop and illustrator

Im going to upgrade the os to 10.5.4 but my main question is about the ram. Its only got 1gb which i would like to upgrade. Should I get 2gb or 4gb. Does it make that much difference?

Based on what I want to use it for, will it be up to scratch.

Any help would be much appreciated

depending on the amount of photoshop you use, and the size of the images you are working on it could be worth the extra ram.

I have 4gb in my MBP and it does make it smoother when operating ram intensive apps.

cheers for the replies guys, 2gb was my original thought but then I wondered if 4gb would make much of a performance difference as it wouldnt be that much more for the ram.

I will be working on fairly small PS documents, max resolution would be 2000 x 1500 roughly. How will this macbook handle that with 2gb ram?
