Hi,

I currently have the Corsair 1500's (a USB "gaming headset" I know I know ) and want an upgrade, I've seen that a pair of headphones with a soundcard and attachable mic works best, so I need to decide on a pair of headphones. I'd say roughly around £150 for the whole lot, including sound card, headphones and mic. I game around half the time I'm on my PC, the rest of the time is usually spent watching youtube/TV catchup or listening to music, with the music mostly being electronic music with some R&B/hip-hop. I'm not exactly planning to use them outside as I use earphones for that, but would possibly think about using them on my phone at home.

I've been thinking about getting the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro's 80Ohm version (£120) with the Zalman detachable mic (roughly £10) but I'm not sure what soundcard would go well with it for around £20.

Any thoughts? :)
Thanks,
Luke.

around £20 you have little choice but the DGX.

kind of goes in this order of price

Asus DGX
creative Z oem
Creative ZX
Asus STX
creative ZXR
Asus STX II

External option is the Creative pro then the ASus U7

they are well recomended for Closed back headphones at their price point. I've only used the gaming version the mmx 300 and they are good but a little bit different from the DT770

If you need more bass then either the 80ohm Beyerdynamic DT770 or used Philips Fidelio X1 plus a Xonar DGX and a clip on mic.

I'd rather go new so the 770's it is I guess. I take it the DGX will power it fine? I'd hate buying a new pair of headphones knowing it's nowhere near it's potential lol.

Let me know how it goes as I'm thinking of getting the dt770s to go with my zxr or I might upgrade to the creative x7

The "used" just means they have been returned to the rain forest, almost certainly within 30 days, not something that's sat on someone's head for a couple of years. :D

The DGX will drive the 80 ohm DT770 fine but would struggle badly with the 250 ohm version.
