Basically I am a bit of a geek and find OS fun. I would very much like to purchase windows vista however is it worth it? I heard that it only registers to one motherboard and my computer is about two years old (specs in sig). Now I know vista will run fine on my computer however what happens when I do eventually upgrade (maybe year 1/2 from now)? Will I need to buy windows vista again for the new computer?

Thanks in advance

Thats Vista OEM I think you are on about. It can only be used with one PC which Microsoft define as being the motherboard. So if you got Vista OEM and installed it on your PC then upgraded your motherboard you'd need a new copy of Vista.

I'm planning to get Vista retail. Not now, I'm waiting for the bugs/issues to be found and fixed and maybe even wait for the SP1. I'm then going to install it on my Linux box so I can "test" Vista for a while before I install it instead of XP on my main PC. Vista retail can be used on any PC, only one PC at a time of course.
