Need advice on overclocking a 9700 pro

hi,

got a 9700pro for a friend and looking at overclocking it, never had an ati card so not sure of the best way.

tried atitool on me works lappy and when i set it to find max memory it went from 180 to 390 so got a feeling i havent set something or doing something obviosuly wrong.

any ideas ?

Yeah, I never use the "find max" feature in ATi tool as it always seems to go way too high. The best way is to just increase the clocks in ATi Tool (one at a time) 5-10MHz from the default and then test with 3DMark for stability. You may be lucky and have a good clocker, like my old 9600XT, or unlucky and get a bad one like my wife's X700Pro. Good luck!

got the latest omega drivers for it, they the best or are the older ones more suited to the 9700 ?
