hello all

i am looking into getting 3 monitors for my sim rig setup for iracing.at minute i am only using a Samsung SM2433BW 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor with my 5850.i would like to run 3 monitors prefer the monitors to be the same.

i know that i need one to be a display port which means my current monitor is no good, unless theres a cheap work around that actually works, but i doubt it.

so my budget is really limited and to £530 max,the only option i see in my range is the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-038-DE&groupid=17&catid=949&subcat=

is this the only option i have,my only concern is the size of the monitors,if anything i am only sitting a foot away or so.

so any ideas reviews would be great,i am not clued up on monitors so please be gentle i just want triple setup for my racing rig

thanks

my rig is in my sig:D

I'd strobly recommend getting monitors of the same size and resolution or the image will be smaller on the side ones and ruin the effect. There is a cheap workaround that doesn't require an active adapter (I'll have a look around, it was posted on here somewhere, I believe it was a BenQ monitor).

EDIT: couldn't find that thread, maybe someone here can remember what it was. Either that or you could get a cheap 24" and use an active display port adapter
eg 2 of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-033-BQ&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat=

You'll need to use the display port output on your card alright, but there are ways to avoid having to buy displayport monitors:

1: use an active displayport-DVI adapter
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...56&subcat=1502

2: use that handy little workaround to just use a much cheaper passive displayport-VGA adapter

If 2 is confirmed as a solid workaround, then you could save £80 (I recommend google for this). Or, you just take the hit with 1 and you'll still have saved cash by not paying for displayport monitors you don't need. I also want to remind you that 2 22" monitors next to a 24" monitor will look ridiculous because the images won't match up in eyefinity (will be fine for normal desktop use though). Same size and resolution is necessary and you'll regret not going that route if you try to skimp by going with 22"ers.

seems i have confused you all or something refarding the 22" i was gonna buy 3 of them and get rid of the 24" sammy.

oh right my bad lol! Well you could hold onto it and just get two more if you wanted? Otherwise 3 22"ers would be fine. Would probably be worth going for 1920x1200 monitors if you were going that route to get the extra height.
