My stupid gf had a credit card with capital one

She had a £100 limit and it was ALWAYS paid on time in full.

2 months later capital one cancelled the card saying that she was not allowed to have it in the first place.

Ok fair enough they cancelled the card and we paid the balance in full end of.

Now get a letter from capital one saying that we owe 213 quid for costs and insurances? Surly we don’t owe this money? Where do I stand on this?

there is no break down, it just says you owe us £213 and here is the slip to pay it with.

well first thing is to phone them up and ask them about it.

My gf did that and spoken to a very unhelpful person that tbh didnt really give a toss?

just they said you owe us as its in the T&C, im thinking the T&C went of the window as soon as they terminated the card, as they terminated the contract?

phone up again and ask for a manager.

your entitled to know what you are paying for, so you at least need a break down of costs, which you can then refer to your T&C

ok sounds like a plan, either way im not going to pay it. just unfair

If she lied an ANY way to get the card she will be liable for the costs incured by the company. She could also face a charge of fraud. If she didnt lie about anything such as age or income then i seriously cant see why they cancelled it and said she shouldnt have had it in the first place.

If that IS the case and they have cancelled it for no reson other than they dont want her as a customer then i cant see how she is liable for charges seeing as They terminated the contract.

There is more to this by the sounds of it... sounds to me like they have gone over her details and found something thats either wrong or against the T&C's and so have cancelled the card and levied the applicable charges against her. She did read the entire T&C's i assume? ;)

Agreed. theywont cancel your credit card for no apparent reason, wont they? That is basically telling them wind up! I believe there are more than just this simple.
