Im fed up with my Home Server constantly going wrong and the fact that I have a constant humming sound in my room.
I have a BT ADSL broadband connection and a HP OfficeKet K80 printer which I want to be accessible by 3 other pc's in the house.
I have no previous experience with routers so any advice would be great. I have a very limited budget so am looking for the cheapest solution possible
So Far:
1x Belkin 5 Port Network Hub - Have this from previous network setup.
1x Netgear DG632 Router - Think this should be ok with my connection, can get these for about £20 inc.
I Need:
Print Server
My printer has both USB and the old fashioned LTP1 connector. However I think the traditional connector cannot be used with WinXP as it says this on the driver CD. Will this have any effect on my pc's if I connect the printer to a LPT1 print server? They seem to be a fair bit cheaper than the USB ones. Since its network shared will that make a difference?
I have also found the majority of USB print servers around for good prices are all USB 1.1. Will my printer still work ok with this, just a bit slower maybe?
Thanks
Chris.
