Hi all

further to my last thread, ive decided against upgrading my phone and ive decided to keep my G2 for a bit. My contract has expired with EE so I need advice on a new sim only deal.

my monthly usage is approx:

300 texts
350 MB data
20 mins

if I had 4G, my data might go up a little.

Ive always just had a contract and upgraded my phone every 18 months, so I'm at a bit of a loss with the whole sim only thing. ive looked about on the web at 1 month/30 day contracts and the major companies are all much the same price wise, but ive seen better pricing through Giff Gaff, Tesco mobile, iD mobile, virgin mobile etc...

are the smaller companies worth considering? any I should avoid? any suggestions?

is pay as you go worth considering? the ones ive seen (not looked at a lot I admit) are only valid for 30 days, which seems a bit pointless really?

Cheers guys.

Just recently bought my wife an EE sim only direct with EE, Unlimited Mins, Unlimited Texts and 2GBs of 4G data, £15.99 a month with a £40 Amazon voucher & £75 cashback thrown in, which makes the first 12 months only £6.41 a month, very happy with it and excellent data speeds too :)

Black belt consumerism there!

If you don't want a 12 month contract and are looking at things like giffgaff I'd say the post office is worth considering. I've just switched from giffgaff, similar pricing, uses the EE network which I guess you're happy with? Only 3G but do you really need 4G?

Their £5 bundle had enough minutes/text/data based on your listed requirements.

I'm with Giffgaff at the minute and not had any real issues (other than the occasional O2 related outage) - Both easy to migrate into and out of if you want to keep your number.

Giffgaff - £7.50 / month rolling contract
- 250 UK minutes
- Unlimited UK texts
- 500 MB Internet
- Free to giffgaff numbers

thanks for the suggestions guys.

Will look into those options.

will I need to phone EE to get my pac code? or would the new people handle that for me? how does it work?

Thanks

Yes you ring your current provider - will not cost anything and they have to provide it - You then give that to your new provider (e.g. with giff gaff via their web page), and your number gets ported within a couple of days.

Didn't see your last thread but is your G2 locked to EE? Might need to consider unlocking from that network if switching to another...

Hi, yes it probably is. previous googling shows people suggesting using the services on ebay to unlock the phone. is this the advised method? I suspect there is a ridiculous charge for EE to do it?

thanks
