I am new to the forums and i need some expertise. I am looking to build my first comp i have been reading lots of different combinations nut now my brain is fried and i would appreciate it if somebody could tell what i could buy on my budget which is £400 i have a case, monitor and a dvd drive i also would like it to be overclockable so i can have a bash at that, i also quite like the hd 4870 so if anyone could work that in as well or something similar my goal is to play cysis on the maximum settings and any other new gane on the highest setting possible.I only have a 15 inch moniter but i probbebly will upgrade in a few months. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick replies well what would be the best way to spend my £400 for a rig as i siad i quite like the 4870 but if that is way too high for my size of monitor then any suggestion would be very welcome.

It's a bit over budget, but what about the following?

I really would suggest buying a new screen as it will greatly improve your computing experience.

I would keep Most of the Components from Reflux's list, but down grade the GPU to A GTS 250, and get a decent power supply with the money saved.

Aye, whoops, forgot about the PSU.

The stock cooler will be ok for a limited overclock, but if you want to get the most out of the chip, I suggest the cooler listed above.

It will annihilate Crysis @ 1024x768. My mate has a Radeon 4850 (very similar performance to the GTS250) and that runs Crysis very well even at 1440x900.
