Hi all

i have purchased SR3 from origin and its downloading as we speak,
If i cancel the download in origin and put the code into steam to download it, will steam think im pirating the game?

this is daft i left it downloading from origin, its just finished and now its downloading another 9 gig from steam, what the hell is going off?

Yeah I get that but I don't understand why I've just downloaded 10gb through origin if it's not needed that's what I mean,

Probably because of -

How do you expect Origin to know that you're going to use Steam and that you don't need the files when you've just told it to download them? It's a piece of dumb content delivery software, not the next-gen in mind reading AI.

It was origin that sent me to steam, I didn't decide to redownload it in steam myself

Its probably NOT downloading a 9gb patch, its re-downloading the whole game. When you ask origin to download/install a game it defaults to program files\origin games\SR3.

When you download a game in steam it defaults to program files\steam\steamapps\common\SR3.

With it being steamworks it requires steam to activate the game. Yes its a strange one, you could have originally just taken the key and added it to steam leaving origin totally out of the equation.

You could try this: Close steam and origin down (make sure steam has created an SR3 directory in steamapps\common\) copy the files from the SR3 folder in \origin games\SR3\ into the steam created folder. Open steam back up and see how many of the files it detects, should in theory clean up most of that 9gb, just leaving any steam specific files and patches to download.
