need amp and speakers, help

Hey guys, looking for a nice amp and some speakers, i know bugger all about these two things so i come seeking advice. Basically Im will to spend about 300 quid for the lot, floor standing speakers would be nice also. Im also willing to buy second hand therefore what sorta brands should i be looking for for brand new or for second hand.
