Hey guys, just about to order my brother an upgrade but the motherboard he is getting has an 8 pin PSU connector on the motherboard, but his PSU doesn't have one of these.

Is there a cable that can convert a 6 pin PCIE or a 4 pin molex to this 8 pin connection? Don't want to have to buy a new PSU.

Thanks for any help.

im pretty sure in saying that you can just use the top 4 pins if its for the cpu...normally

the bottom 4 are covered with a little plastic cap and you would use the 8 pins if you

were doing heavy overclocking and needed alittle extra juice....

I'm out of ideas to be honest, I had suspected that without that connector it was an ancient unsuitable PSU, but as far as I'm aware NZXT weren't around before CPUs went 12V.

What is the new motherboard and cpu your getting.

You probably can get away with just the 4 pin.

You should get away with plugging the 4 pin connector in like cammy and RJC said, but if you still want the adaptor, google 4pin P4 12v to 8pin EPS Connector.
