I do a lot of shopping in the US (using www.myus.com to forward the package) the problem I normally have is the sellers done want to take my non American credit card.

Does anyone know how I can get an American credit card? Even prepaid would be fine. I tried to google and came up with a few Virtual cards but the websites all look very shoddy.

I have read of people using American Express cards to use USA itunes, might work for you. I would assume the only way it would work is if the bin range of cards is the same regradless of if the card is issued in the states or europe.

There's one I believe a whole load of people in Consoles use to import stuff from the States... I'll see if I can hunt it out, but maybe worth looking in there too?

prepaid cards = win

try cards from:

Frost bank,
Wachovia
Bank of america

They all do gift cards, and if you have trouble getting one let me know, I will just visit the branch and purchase one for you then give you the card number or have it mailed to you as a gift.......thats if you trust me :p

I lived and worked in the US for a year and couldn't get a credit card.

All you can get is a prepaid card, or if you can get a US bank accoutn (which requires a social security number), you can get a deposit based credit card. i.e. You can lay down 1000USD and can get a credit card with that limit

I just had a look at that site. From their About page:

# Personal Shopper

* You don't have a US credit card? We've got you covered! We will purchase from US retailers on your behalf with our company credit card, check or PayPal account.

Will that not work?

Open a Dollar Account with CitiBank (London Branch) and get a card on that.

beaten me too it...

was going to say exactly the same thing - Citi allow you to open USD and EUR accounts in addition to GBP & they've just opened a new branch near St Pauls (if you're in London)
