Got the evenings to myself for nearly a week so fancied a new single player game to get into.
Just finishing Wolfenstein which was only ok. I have'nt played CoD MW2 or BF BC2 yet.
Considering Call of Pripyat but the stalker games are a bit slow burning.
CoD MW sp was epic and im looking for a real adrenaline ride to complete in 4 nights.

What do you reckon (prefably off steam) for kicks? MP is a bonus but im only a casual gamer so don't need anything requiring lots of time to have a laugh now and again.

Ta.

I quite like both the Call of Juarez games. They both had really good game play mixed with what I thought was pretty good graphics. Loved playing it and the old country and western element was great.

The second one was spoiled for me by that stupid quickdraw that couldn't be bypassed so you had to endlessly keep trying over & over if your keyboard/mouse weren't fast enough

I am currently playing Avatar which is way better than some of the revues may lead you to believe & the graphics are superb

I'd suggest Metro 2033 but if you didn't like stalker then maybe not :), pretty adrenaline packed in a "you'll **** brixx" kind of way

MW2 is good, but very short, you'll finish it in about 7hrs of play time.

BF BC2 SP looks good, but i've only done the first couple of levels, so can't comment on the rest.

Go and get the new Batman game, you won't be disappointed.

Probably one of the best SP games of last year (I think it was released at the end of last year).

I liked MW2 over MW, i thought it was spot on but, BC2 single player is ridiculous, i couldn't stop laughing at one part and i kept face palming at certain parts.

I also recommend MoH Airborne.

Batman AA is outstanding, one of the best games of last year by far.

I looked at Metro 2033 here, looks very STALKER'ish. I love SOC and CS but they are slow burners and I want to be taken on a ride for a few nights without being able to stop.
Sounds a bit buggy too from the forum posts.

Batman AA looked pretty awesome but is it melee scrapping etc? I prefer guns or bloody great big swords.

I think I want to play MW2 but resent the cost for a short game and slated MP.

If only the HL episode 3 was out:(

It's only like stalker in GFX terms it's a liner shooter .

I can vouch for both Batman AA and Borderlands! I think Batman AA is the better for a single run through, this game seriously shocked me, sublime voice acting and an incredibly well put together game. There are moments in the game that are truly just wow! Borderlands I loved the style. A single playthrough will take longer than Batman but while i really enjoyed it, it did not feel quite as epic as Batman.

If you like RPGs then Dragon Age or Mass effect(this is half FPS so might be easier to get into) these would be good games, but take quite a while. Dragon age for example took me about 60 hours and i loved every minute of it.

There are loads of games I have not played so maybe some other gems out there.

As for MW2 and BC2, I would not get either for single player as they are just too short to warrant the money, for these games its mainly about multiplayer. I finished MW2 single player in about 6 hours, pretty epic tbh but incredibly short!

Just finishing Wolfenstein which was only ok.

Have you played Return to Castle Wolfenstein? A lot of us would say it's the better game (and you can kick nazis down stairs, which we all found hilarious at the time :p Simple minds, you see...)

Give MW2 a miss, its not bad but the single player I found much less satisfying than the first one.

Left field suggestion...Portal. Best single player game I've played in years (though I'm more of a multiplayer person.)

If you haven't played Mass Effect 1 and 2 - get them - I'm semi jealous, theres some serious gaming time to be had from those 2 if you've not done it before.

Dead space, Half-life, Batman aa.

Im going through some older games at the moment, Unreal, Quake 2 and the first AvP. All as awesome as ever.

Anyone here played World in Conflict? wondering what it's like since i enjoy rts games mainly Command and Conquer series but since the latest is a letdown perhaps this game could be worth a go?

World in Conflict is hands down the best RTS game I have ever played (campaign only). It was a freat ride.

As for OP - I am playing Stalker COP, I loved the previous one but this one surpasses them - the atmosphere and immersion is taken to next level thanks to great location and quest design. It is simply the most atmospheric game I have ever played in last 15 years.
