need an idiots guide to setting up adsl connection

been asked to setup a non pc literate friends bb for her,


has everything in the house needed and has a active bt bb account

unfortunately i'm one of the lucky few who has cable and I have never setup an adsl connection before


anyone offer some pointers before i Leave the house?

can't you follow the guide that come with the modem etc

besides it's easy all you need is to type in the username and password surely? and the modem should autodetect the rest.

If you are going to use the software that comes from BT, dont connect the router or anything before it asks you to otherwise it messes up the installation CD. Put the disk in first and plug in stuff as it tells you too.

Of course you dont really need to use the installation CD as your friend probably has a router in which case DCHP and windows will do most of it for you.
