Need an ingenious PSU fan filter solution

Mmmm, silky smooth.

Wouldn't work so well for my scenario though. No existing filter, nowhere to fit one and a non-standard shape/size.

stockings / tights are not that great to use imo, you don't get enough airflow through them I tried adding a homemade tights filter to the hdd side of my rv03 it increased temps by 10c I put this down to not enough air can get through the tights (I didn't use thick granny tights).

oh, i'll give this some thought :confused::eek:

Yeah, would go some way to explain your over heating TX.

I use s/s laboratory mesh, you can get it in pretty much any grade of mesh and it comes in sheets you can just cut to size, stick it on/attach it how you like.

Could the psu face both up or down?

I know you have already solved this, but if possible, I would have tried flipping the psu, seeing what the temps were like and if good, not having to worry about a filter there.

Yes I could have mounted the PSU with the fan inside the case but that would make it difficult to the control air (and therefore dust) flow into the case.

Also as this is a HTPC I want to minimise noise. Giving the PSU a direct supply of room air should hopefully keep the fan spinning at a low speed.
