Hi,

My wife is self employed and needs a new Ultrabook pretty much now. I was looking at a few Samsung models yesterday, but the Samsung Series 9 seems a touch flimsy and has a 2-generation old Sandybridge processor for around £700. (I have seen an offer of a free tablet and free Samsung phone which would bring the price down a bit when sold).

Whatever I get it needs to be super- light (<1.5Kg) and 13" with a decent battery.

To me, the best bang for your buck at the moment seems to be a Macbook Air with a Haswell processor. These are £949, but are more or less the only decent laptops I can find that are the right side of a grand, light enough, and have the Haswell.

Anything else I should be looking at? Do you think the market will change radically within a month?

Thanks

The Macbook air is a very good laptop (waiting on mine to arrive). I'd say that it is probably the best made, and is designed to not have the extra's other manufacturers keep 'tacking on' to their laptops now. (e.g Touchscreens. Just why?) The battery life is extremely good, and has probably the best trackpad you can find in any price range. It will also hold its price the best.

& for those complaining of the screen, the new 4K Asus hasn't a much greater ppi. And in the 13" size, it is very portable, and usable everyday.
