Hi guys, need some advice. My old PC, which my mum, bro and sis are using has broken. Ive got no idea what has happened but its time for an upgrade I think. Current specs are:

Athlon X2 3800+
2GB 3200DDR RAM
250gb HDD
8800GTS 320MB
Generic Soundblaster Audigy card
Asus A8N SLI Delux (I think thats what its called)
Coolermaster Praetorian 730
550W PSU
Viewsonic 19" Monitor

I want to use as much of this as I can, but upgrade the rest to build a reasonable home/gaming system. Im not sure how to proceed.
I figured I could use the existing sound card, case and PSU and sell/bin the rest.
Or would it be worthwhile just to buy a new system? Any suggestions would be welcome. Im not keen on spending more than £500.

How is it broken? Have you determined which part is at fault? Assuming everyhing works, you can carry over hdd, optical drive, sound card, case, psu, and 8800gts if you don't game all that much. What psu is it?

tbh, whilst you canc arry over the above, you may as well bin it, as its prob all IDE and Im assuming its a generic PSU too so Id get a decent branded one whilst youre at it, you can still get a reasonable system for £500
Done this but realised you may need windows 7 including?

I have no idea, will find out this weekend as I am back in England. I dont game (as I dont live there) but my younger brother does from time to time.

Interesting, cheers. I have a copy of Vista I can put on it for the time being until I can get my hands on a copy of 7.
