Hey guys. This issue has been going on for months now and is really making me pull my hair out.

Basically when I boot my PC on it says starting windows then the screen will go black. The PC has come on and if I type my password and press enter then it will give me the sound that plays when you log in to your desktop- it just isn't giving me the image. I will then have to turn the power off and on again as many times as it takes for it to come on normally (which can be anything from first time of asking to 6th or 7th time although typically 2nd or third try it comes on normally).

There is no connection issue with any of the hardware or the lead to the monitor and in any case half the time it works perfectly fine so this clearly isn't the issue.

My MOBO bios has been updated as have my display drivers (5770) and this has not improved the issue at all.

I am desperately trying to figure out what the issue is as I couldn't find anything online. I would be eternally grateful if anybody knows what this issue is or could figure it out! Thank you for your assistance.

As I said in my original post, there are no connection issues. The monitor also is fine. Once it is on the PC can be on for hours and there are no issues, it is something to do with the initiation of the display on startup which leads me to think it is a MOBO/Graphics card issue however I have had the PC for maybe 18 months now and it has not always had this issue.

I don't have another graphics card to try.
