Need avi file splitting software

Hi,

Can anybody please recommend a free and fairly easy to use piece of software that can split up a large avi file into smaller files?

virtual dub is the one. easy and free.

virtualdub

open your file in virtualdub
set audio and video to 'direct stream copy' (so it doesn't take ages re-encoding them)
go to start of video, press 'home'.
go to where you want the split, then press 'end'
tap F7 and save it as videoa.avi

then press home (without moving slider yet)
and move slider to the next part and press end
tap press F7 and save it as videob.avi

^repeat for multiple splits

or if you want to send the file to someone, i'd suggest using 7zip to compress it in 'store' mode with a 25mb split

they'll need 7zip to extract the video file from the 25mb files (easy to do)
