Hey guys, just a quickie,

I'm buying a Macbook Pro 13" and desperately don't want the bits filling up with dust,

I'd really like a blanking plate/dust cap/insert for the mini displayport and firewire and ethernet, does anyone know if these things exist? Just a little rubber/plastic insert that will cover the contacts and fill the slot so no dust gets in. Just wanna keep it nice!

Any ideas?
Thanks guys!

U being serious?

My god how anal do you wanna get?

Just give it a clean every now and then.

It's a huge investment for me and I want to keep it in the best shape possible. I am relying on it to perform perfectly in whatever circumstance I need when creating or distributing my music, in situations that could potentially make me a lot of money.

So in response, I'm getting as anal as it takes.

anyway guys :p

i had a macbook for years and the ports were not protected - no problems whatsoever - i doubt it is an issue really :)

Tru dat. I might be worrying too much :)

and guys, I'm not getting THAT anal, sorry to disappoint ;)

as an engineer, i would say that the ports have been designed to take some dust and a few knocks without impeding their function and remember, these ports have not changed design in years - if there was an issue with dust they would ship with covers and ultimately be redesigned, i;d say - nothing to worry about ;)

Superb. Thanks for your help

As a long term Macbook user, I would say that easily the biggest risk of dust build up is in the CPU fan - had to replace mine when it burned out (probably from sucking in bits of tobacco off my desk :()
