Bought this a few years back:

*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 4.00GHz / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle

Could I get a similar performing setup for around £250.. really need to downsize my rig, and also want to benefit from Sata3 ssd, so looking to flog the above and get hopefully similar performing hardware... System was never run above 3.2ghz.

Any suggestions would be welcome...

what benefit do you think you will get?

The intel Intel ports for my m4 ssd has been performing amazing for me personally, plus the 7/8 other people I know who don't want to use the crappy marvel controller. It was a big improvement going from a raptor to a ssd.

A changeover just to go from sata 2/marvel 9128 to sata 3, in my opinion is a total waste of money/hassle, I doubt you would get similar performance for £250.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, btw on ssd, I cant recommend the m4 highly enough.

Why does everyone rave over this ssd, when, on paper at least, there are many better spec, such as vertex 4 and Samsung among others... Im likely to at some point upgrade to S3 capable hardware so if im gonna stick with what I have, I should at least get the best 128gb ssd I can...

One reason for the "downsize" was I have a monster of a tower case, one of the coolermasters with about 14 5.25 drive bays, and its just too damn big.. was thinking of going for the new mitx style cases...
