Anyone recommend a very cheap DVD player with HDMI so that i can connect it to my monitor to play films?

Question: Why not just play the DVDs from the PC?

Anyway, the product choice depends on the monitor it's going to partner with. Is this a monitor that has internal speakers and can take sound via HDMI? Or do you need to connect an audio out to some external sound system?

Also, how does the monitor cope with a 50Hz signal that it'll get from PAL DVDs or a 59.94Hz signal for NTSC-based DVDs. Neither of these are a standard 60Hz signal that is generally the lowest refresh rate you'd get from a typical PC graphics card.

It played movies from a ps4. It has internal speakers. Audio output too. HDMI. Freesync. HD quality too. I will use headphones.

No pc, until next year. Daughter now has PS4

Also are you looking for a DVD player that has Netflix & Amazon apps built in ?
Plus do you need one that can also play movie files from a USB stick ?

I was thinking of Blu-ray players :o..Can you even get a DVD player that has Netflix & Amazon apps

No, not interested in Netflix etc. Just bog standard DVDs. Playing from a USB would be a bonus i guess as i have lots on my external HD.
