OK, so I'm going to be upgrading shortly and need some advice from you people in the know.
Last time I built a PC was about 4 years ago  so as you can imagine my current setup is a bit crap.

Current setup:
P4 3Ghz
P4C800-E
1Gb Ballistix
6800 GT

As you can see, a bit crap by todays standards.
Trying to put together something that wont break that bank but will manage to play Crysis without grinding to a halt.
I don't play at mega high rez, only 1440 x 900 so I'm thinking an 8800 GT will suffice for the graphics.
Anyway, this is what I came up with on my own.
I have about £700 to spend so the question is, did I make any big mistakes and can you guys spend my cash better :D

That's a great selection and a really effective upgrade in terms of price/performance.

I'd personally consider a Lian Li PC-7 or PC-7S as they're fairly affordable, spacious and nicely built. I used to own an Antec P180 (pretty much identical to the P182) and TBH i found the internal space really restrictive, the case very heavy and the sound deadening quite ineffective. There were also some issues regarding the distance some of the PSU's power cables needed to stretch to make it to the mobo - some simply didn't have cabling long enough. :(

Also, what operating system are you using? If you plan to use a 64 bit operating system (x64 or vista 64) i'd consider 4gb rather than 2gb of ram.

Finally, if the budget allows a 2160 or 2180 may allow you to more easily guarantee a greater overclock. For the small extra outlay it may be worth it! :)

Besides those points that's a great set up there!

Plan on using Vista 64 so I'm gonna get 4gb of GeIL.
As for the case, for some reason I've always over looked the Lian's, but now you've pointed them out I'm suddenly finding myself drooling :D
How are the Lian's on a cooling / noise level?

Get a 2x2Gb kit rather than 4x1Gb, i assume your gonna ber overclocking with the E2140? If so i'd guess the 2x2Gb would be better suited.

Overall they generally get very good reviews.

I've had 2 lian li cases and they're honestly the best i've ever owned. Quiet and cool running although for true silence a decent set of 'quiet' fans is very effective and advised. Actually though, the biggest benefit i see is the reduced weight compared to other cases.

I'm sure you won't be dissappointed with any that you choose! ;)

Got your eye on any case in particular?

I'd agree with this. The OCZ PC6400 (HERE) paired with either the e2160 or e2180 would suit you perfectly!

My Gigabyte P35 DS3P ran perfectly with 2x2gb kit of OCZ PC5400.

That Lian realy does look nice, and the best thing is the money I save on it over the Antec lets me up the CPU to the 2180 :D
