Need css/html advice

Basically my background is causing a lot of issues for IE users, very slow scrolling as such I wish to use a plain grey background template via blogger. But I can't remove my previous background as blogspot has changed it's template editor

Does anyone have a css command I can use to remove my background?

Previously I added my backgrounds through css but removing it seems not to be working!

Visit my website in both IE and Firefox and you'll see what I mean! In my temp blog without widgets and posts it's still *** slow thus it points to the background

Fixed it through notepad++

for some reason my editor was playing havoc
