What can I expect to get a Pentium Dual Core 1.8 Ghz E2160 up to using stock heatsink and fan?

good question... i have same question but with the E2180 (said that without double checkin but should b the 2 ghz one)

also being a oc n00b and failing to understand the posted guide, can i have the oc process expained to me using screen-shots of the bios plz :D

no where near 3GHz then :( what cooler would you reccomend to push it up to 3GHz - providing you even tried another that is!

his is a very hot running 2160 by the looks of it. my e6600 ran hot too - my e2160 actually clocks further. 3.2ghz @ 1.325v is the furthest ive bothered to push it, all at <55c load on some silent thermaltake orb thingy (120mm fan, 600rpm)

Mine was 2.88Ghz on stock (70C Orthos load), and 3Ghz with the Tuniq (50s Orthos load). I'm told I'm limited as it is an L2 revision and not M0. If the latter, people are getting 3.2-3.4 on quality coolers.

my L2 revision e2160 will clock upto 3.2, however my cheapo £7 a gig ram wont allow it, and my bro wont let me keep his crucial ram... so now im limited to 3ghz topping the ram out at 333mhz (667)

I only use a 16 quid thermalright HSF from ocuk, and at 3.2 was hitting 68, @ 3ghz it sits nicley at high 50's in stress test.

I note we have different boards, but out of interest what are your key BIOS settings (esp RAM voltages and timings)?

hi kirth,

ram voltages are at 1.8v with timings of 4-4-4-12 as they are now,

with crucial ram, it was set to 2.1v with timings of 5-5-5-15

CPU is set 1.325v

ram cpu ratio 1:1 as didnt seem stable at 3:2

PC is not stable at anything over 3.2ghz though

Hi there!

got my revision M0 to 3.2Ghz with stock cooling, have ordered a Scythe Infinity now so maybe I'll get even more out of it.

I think it depends a lot on the revision. if you are going to get one now, make sure it's a M0 revision and not L2! Also make sure you have a board that supports the new high FSB as it's good for overclocking the FSB from 800 upwards!

Temp idle: 28
Temp load: 50 - 70

Regards

but devious has his e2160 L2 revision at 3.6 on water... so not all L2's are bad lol
