I'm using a router with 4 ethernet ports and wireless g connection. Two computers downstairs are hardwired and mine is connected by a 10 metre cable upstairs.

I need to connect a second one upstairs and I don't really want to have another cable going upstairs.

This second one with be essentially for downloading and I need a good connection. Obviously I could use a wireless adapter but I don't trust the connectivity of them.

Is it at all possible to spilt the ethernet lead I have in two with like a sub router?

yea you could, your downlaoding/gaming bandwidth will be determined by the speed of your internet, although for downaloading AND gmaing i would gigabit everything up so on your LAN you dont have speed issues.

okay cool. That was solved a lot quicker than I thought.

I forget what the main router is on, I think it's 250mbps but my intercon is only going to be 5mbps.

Cheers guys, it's seems like it's going to be that switch :)
