Hey peeps,

i would like a new graphic card, but not sure what to get... and how many
also what i can get for that matter.....

my mobo is a Asus P5B deluxe, and i would really like to boost up my
graphics but im unsure of what the motherboard will take...
i bought this motherboard with the invision of upgrading and it seemed like a good board to be able to do that... but...

is is SLi?
can it take 2 cards the same?
the second PCi slot... will it take a better card?
or should i just end up buying a new motherboard?

oh and my current gfx card is an XFX Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT 512mb

kind regards

Paul

The motherboard is based on the 965 chipset which is fairly old now but still decent. Since it is an intel chipset it won't run sli but it does allow crossfire so you can use two ati cards. However if you do go for crossfire you'll be limited to x16 on the first slot and x4 on the second one and this may be a bottleneck for newer cards and on top of that it is only pcie 1.1.

Your best option would be to get a HD4870 and that should be a very good upgrade from your 7950gt.

wow what a great forum... the response is great pfff
And here we are, actually getting paid to help people out on this forum and we missed this post. Thats unfortuante as we get a £10 bonus payment if we answer a post within the first hour its posted.

Hmm damn thats another forum, so we dont get paid at all on this one and we take our own time to help people. So maybe you need to get a grip.

Oh and the post above is pretty spot on. The HD 4850 and 4870 are the best price to performance cards out at the moment. Definitely a big step up from your current card.

I just seen other posts being replied to right away, and this 1 was being viewed and
over looked...

you have to remember there is people out there that like PC's but still need
to ask for other peoples thoughts on things..

thanks for the replies...
