Need For Speed is dropping EA for Criterion

This is a good thing

NFS : Heat will EA last one before moving to Criterion for the next title

being as they made the underground series and Hot Pursuit (which i enjoyed the most)
hopefully we will start getting a good racing game again

I thought EA own Criterion? So it'll still be EA, it'll just be developed by Criterion rather than whichever other studio EA had farmed the last few out to?

Doing a bit more digging, it looks like whilst the last few NFS weren't developed by Criterion but by Ghost Games (another EA subsid), 80% of Criterion's development staff moved to Ghost at that time, so it's effectively been the same actual people it would have been anyway. I wouldn't expect much to change
