What I've found is that people are using 360 pads and they put the analogue stick to full right/left which will cause the car to lose traction as it is too fast to be turning the wheel.
With a wheel you have a lot more control over the wheel - amusingly enough - but people condemn the game based on that. I bet some people are using the outside cam too which is a cardinal sin in my opinion.
And paradisiac the game will run a lot better with a wheel but it's a shame some people have to shell out but once you have a DFGT\G25\G27, they'll last a very long time and get you through a lot of games.
Edit - AHH it's the same all over again, people with pads say it's crap, people with wheels say it's amazing.![]()
its on a 42" screen @ 1920x1080, is that big enough
hopefully when i finally get a day off (not til next sat now) i will play with the settings and see if i can make the controller respond better. i did have a good bash at it last night without any setting changes and got to grips with it, it just felt like i had to brake a lot earlier than everyone else to make a corner as i couldnt get it to turn in right. this might be the sensitivity of the analogue sticks maybe?

Yeah thats big enough, I only got a 40" @ 1920x1080. But I am sat with my nose almost touching the screen as I use a Wheel Stand Pro with my G25. I can imagine its much harder if you are sat further away with a pad.![]()
DFGT is PS3 compatible which is what I have.
Not sure if G25\27 are 360/PS3 compatible.
There are wheels for console users though.
i sit about half a meter awayi had a cheap wheel when i got DiRt2 and hated it, i got on a lot better with the 360 controller, i dont know if this was down to the wheel, or if the game had been setup a lot better to accomidate controllers, i just didnt like it. and yes, i do drive, so i know how to use gears and a steering wheel

i think if you head over to the NFS:shift 2 forums there are issues with autolog accross all platforms at the moment, im sure this will be sorted when the game officially comes out tomorrow.
my gaming rig is not connected to the internet though, so i guess i will miss out on a lot of the features?
I didn't think you could even connect to autolog yet in the UK. Certainly not legitimately. I just cancel log in and play. Trying not to advance too far in career mode as I think I will start again when the game arrives!![]()
not sure, i dont have internet on that pc, i just saw it on the forums when seeing if there was any way i can make the experience better with a controller.
what exactly does autolog do, i kinda switch off listening when that american guy starts talking. is it worth my putting up with AV software slowing my pc down to have this feature?
I really don't know if it slows anything down, I shouldn't think so. It is basically a feature that calculates how you are driving and turns it into a score which you can then challenge friends with. Sure there is more to it than that as I have never used it, only read about it.
sorry, i meant installing antivirus software. i dont have the net on my gaming rig as i dont really want any antivirus stuff on it. and it has all my files/photos/vids/music etc on, so dont really want to risk a virus. so if the autolog feature isnt that great then wont bother. most of the time i download the patches on my laptop then move them over to the pc to install, i find its safer, and i never play online as i aint that good, and with 2 little boys i find im forever getting distracted.
Just use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's really good for a free AV.
