I just got the NFS: Shift on Steam. I selected "Start Career" to go do some driving. Then wanted to go back and edit my controls. Then realized I can't figure out "how to quit". Pressing ESC just pauses and lets you edit some other options, but gives no option to quit the driving session. I tried pressing 'Q' during driving.... nothing lets you quit and go to the start menu

How do you quit during a driving session??

Thanks

Thanks for reply. All I get after pressing ESC is Resume, Restart, and Options. Pressing down arrow doesn't reveal anything more. When you choose Options you get Graphics and Video.

Is this because it makes you finish the first drive as an initiation sort of thing??

I think it uses the first drive to help you choose an appropriate difficulty level.
Yep. I just got thru that. I couldn't do that at first because my controls were messed up. Only way to get back to change controls was to force windows to close NFS.

So anyway, now that I'm thru that I'm noticing that you can for example only get a car that's worth your previous winnings and stuff.

I want to just mess around and drive whatever car on whatever track. It doesn't look like it has that option at all. Are there any cheat codes to accomplish that? I don't care about the skill level and 'game play' stuff. Just want to mess around.

Ok, I just noticed the 'quick race' option in the main menu. Sorry, I'm watching a movie at the same time as doing this and the menu's are a little funky looking.

Anyway, it was a little weird that you can't go back to edit controls during the first trial run... only way out is to force windows to shut it down.

OH MY GOD....

seriously wtf?
wtf with your wtf? :D Didn't mean to offend anyone's sensibilities

I payed for the game and now I want to able to 'drive' all the cars that it comes with. I wanted this for blowing off steam 'driving race cars'. I'm not a gamer wanting a challenge of gaining levels or anything.

But no problem. I found a save file that has everything unlocked.

Lol why, its months ago and i only posted in this as to prevent a new shift thread.

Anyhow i found that steering deadzone set to high makes turning nice and slow and not twitchy which i like so im getting there i guess.
lol yeah, I got my question answered ages ago.

I thought the default setup was too twitchy as well and probably made for wheels. I got mine quite nicely adjusted for an RC transmitter via USB. I recall deadzone being a key adjustment. Although that's the main thing to change you can still make fine adjustments to the feel with the other settings. I was happy with my results.

To me the cars don't seem to respond quickly enough, and they don't turn on the wheel axis they turn on this strange center of the car pivot, like a tank.
I always drive with either cockpit view or bumper view, so I never notice that and it looks realistic enough for my senses. Good game.
