So who is playing this at the moment?

If you like racers or test drive unlimited you will LOVE this game. Its basically a MMO racer. You can sign up here its free for now.

My username is ICEDBULLET on there, add me if you see me around in game :)

I saw the article on eurogamer on friday and got it at the weekend but havn't got round to playing it properly yet. A friend has been ranking up and says its very good. I will deffo give it some time this week after work! ps: i'll try and remember to add you! ;-)

If you like racers or test drive unlimited you will LOVE this game.

If you like good games however, you won't.

Unless they've completely changed the game from the beta a few weeks ago - it's an awful game right through to the core, not even worth wasting the bandwidth.

it is very meh... "here i come top speed into a 90deg corner!!!! no brakes applied just crash jump of the wall and go even fastaa!!!!!" yee!!.. no.. its boring.

As I mentioned in another thread, the handling/physics in this game give the NFS series a bad name. It's a joke, I like arcade racers, but there is a difference between being able to keep the back end in check with a digital gamepad/keyboard, and a game where the best tactics is often to just keep it floored with your car glued to the track and just and bounce off the walls.

I've played completed every NFS game from Porsche (the 5th) onwards, this is the 14th on PC, so I'm a big fan of the series, but I wish I hadn't preordered it now.

Well despite what most people are saying I still enjoy the game. It's not for everyone though I guess. I'm not playing it for the realism of the corners or the other boring bits usually in racers...I have Forza for that...

Test drive unlimited had god awful handling but I still enjoyed playing that because of the isalnd it was amazing. I play it nfs beta because its FUN and very entertaining. I like the powerups you can use and the pursuit element to the game is very good.

so are we saying this does for racers what battlefield heroes has done for free online shooters?
..basically nothing except get your hopes up :)

Thought it was going to be similar to the NFSU series. It's not. You can tune your cars by buying "packs" which do exactly the same as the other 2 on offer, the only difference is the body kit and wheels it puts on. Wow...

There are only 3 tiers of cars, and you'll always purchase the best in that tier. So there's pretty much only 3-6 different cars that people are driving round in. The power-ups are pretty pointless in racing mode.

Pursuit mode is something new for me since the last NFS i played was NFSU2, and it's quite fun. Juggernaut and Run-Flat Tyres keep things moving, but things to get tiring after a 10 minute pursuit.

I tried it for the first time today. Predictably, it is rubbish. Looks and runs appreciably worse than years old games Most Wanted and Carbon - why did they ever ditch that game engine which is superior to the one they replaced it with?

Stiff controls, large deadzone on the stick (using 360 pad) which apparently isn't adjustable. The whole thing looks and feels cheap and nasty. I just can't see any reason to play it with so many better games available including the aforementioned.
