Could anybody recommend me some good MMORPGS?

So far I've only excessively played World of Warcraft and Ragnarok Online (probably too much of the latter), and I'm looking for more well-made fantasy-themed MMORPGs to try. I've also enjoyed games like ROSE Online and PristonTale when I was younger, as well as Conquer Online.

I'm not into anything other than fantasy (though I'm willing to try something new), so no EVE Online etc please.

What I enjoy about MMORPGs: Wide variety of classes, preferably at least 6, class development is also something I like.

The only requirements I'm looking for are games with a decent free trial period (or free-to-play), or alternatively well-made and available private servers. I'm past my paying-everything-I-own-for-MMORPGs stage.

If you're into PvE then I would suggest taking a look at LOTRO as it also has a nice 14 day trial and isnt too much of a departure from what you're used to.

If its a wide variety of classes and speccing them and lots of content, then you might also want to consider EQ2 , which has more content and classes than you can shake a network cable at.

Oh man I love lord of the rings, I completely forgot there was an MMORPG for it.
Thanks a lot, I will be sure to try it out once I get the stuff I ordered.

EQ2 also looks promising, I'll check it out if I don't like LOTRO.

Final fantasy however is the single game I hate above all others. ;) No offense.

Might be worth taking a look at Dungeons and Dragons Online - it was dying on its arse, but since they made it free to play, it's got about a million subscribers and is building a very strong community. Only played it very briefly in its first iteration, so can't comment too much on quality, but then again it is free!

just reactivated my EQ2 account last week, me n my bro are just playing it for a couple of hours every night and enjoying going through the content. much better than WoW and LOTRO if you ask me having played both. love the character class depth, massive content and the general lore of EQ from the original. plus they have Drow... you just cant beat Drow :P

Another vote for LOTRO here. The MMO market unfortunately is a bit barren of games worthwhile investing decent amounts of time in, LOTRO is one of the few that are.

Another vote for LoTRO, at the end of the day it is the "Original" fantasy setting ;)

Original my backside :p Tolkien made fantasy popular again is all, great books but hardly the first.

Wow is very good for PVE. If you are bored of PVE in that you are bored of PVE. i honestly can't recommend anything with better PVE, although LOTR is supposed to be very roleplay but that is possibly just due to lack of choice. (it has no PvP).

I did enjoy Aion but it offered nothing new for me, however you don't seem to want anything new so it is a good quality game at least. just nothing original other than nicer graphics and being able to fly.

Time for Eve. :D

played Aion for a while but it didnt take me away from WoW... SCII beta has now though, finally!

either way, i'd recommend Aion, its a very nice game imo, looks amazing and handles really well i found :)
One thing i will suggest is that you play it with a friend, Its much much better :) and questing is easier etc...

There is also Runes of Magic which is free.

Was going to give it a try at one point, but wasn't sure I had the dedication for an MMO - and now am playing STO :/

I love PVE in general, I just find the classes in WoW get somewhat boring, I don't really like any of them. Looking for a new experience, other than the generic macro-repeating of WoW, for example in Ragnarok the gameplay is completely different and a LOT more fast-paced.

LOTRO is definitely worth a look, great game. Aion might be worth checking out, it didn't hold me for long though due to the bots that infested it. Allods Online is a free MMO, but it was decent of what I played in beta, uses a microtransaction store but I don't know the details of what is on it since it wasn't around in beta.

Good man :) Roll on Laurelin - it's the RP server, but all that means is that people are more polite in general, and the pubs usually have some kind of rp event going on.
